Captaincy
Place of practice of the officers of port, it represents a functional cell of the port.
Responsible for setting up the necessary means for the integration of the ship in the port complex and for concretizing the permanence of the port authority with the ships and users.
It also has a police mission which has been conferred on it essentially by the code of maritime ports.
Officers have a port police role. They control and supervise the harbor works, the markup, the lights and the state of the funds as well as the execution of the police regulations. They direct relief to ships in danger.
The range of their missions covers various fields ranging from prevention and repression, to the regulation of port traffic: they regulate the order of entry and exit of the ships in the port, they allocate the posts to quay, they follow the maneuvers, order and direct the movements.
They issue orders to captains, pilots and sailors in all matters relating to the movement of ships and the performance of security, order and police measures.
The harbor officers ensure the execution of all general and special regulations concerning the police and the operation of the port.

Customs
The Customs and Indirect Taxation Administration controls the flow of passengers and goods to and from ships and participates, as part of vigipirate actions, in the security of port (and airport) facilities. Customs collects customs duties, port dues, TIPP, various taxes and also manages the sector of indirect taxes (viticulture, alcohols, tobacco, etc.)

P A F
The PAF (Border Police) of Upper Corsica of Haute-Corse is present on the port of Bastia as part of the direct ferry connections with one of the member states of the Convention of Applications of the agreement from SCHENGEN to know Italy. Its mission, in close collaboration with the Customs Service, is the control of migratory flows and cross-border movement. It carries out various checks on the arrival and departure of the ships touching the port of Bastia.

Steering
The presence of a pilot on board is mandatory for any vessel over 15 tons net tonnage and over 45m in length.
The pilotage service is provided by the Bastia pilot station with 3 stars. Pilots 6 in number intervene day and night at the request of the Harbor Master’s Office.

Lamanage / towing
The Lamanage service is carried out by 9 seafarers ensuring the ship rotations 365 days / year and 24/24 hours.
To perform the mooring under good conditions, the company has two boats of 8 m built for the activity of a respective power of 260 hp and 150 hp.

Acceleration (BCMO)
The Central Manpower Office (BCM) is in charge of handling operations on the port.
Its role is to spend daily (Monday to Sunday included) a hiring of dockers and machine operators, depending on the ships; It has 12 professional and 30 casual dockers .;
